Questions

Semi hand-blown shades, answered

What does semi hand-blown mean?

The glass is still blown by our craftsmen, but into a mold instead of freehand. The mold repeats the shape; molded shades hold a total error of 1 to 2 mm (SIGA workshop estimate, 2026).

What colors can molded shades be?

Molded shades are mainly made in transparent and white glass. If you need color, it is added afterwards, for example by plating or color spraying, and we match Pantone or RAL on request.

Who pays for the mold?

The customer pays the mold fee, once: from several hundred to several thousand US dollars, mainly by size (SIGA terms, 2026). The mold belongs to you while it is in use and for six months after the last production run. We keep it for you during that time. If no repeat order for the same product is placed within six months, we dispose of it.

How long does a new design take?

The mold takes 7 to 10 days and the sample 7 to 10 days after that. Production then takes 15 to 20 days. Exact dates depend on quantity.

What is the minimum order?

The minimum order is 20 pieces per design, for fully hand-blown and semi hand-blown shades alike. It applies to each design separately.
