What we check, and when

Every order passes five checks. The accepted range for size and color is written into your quote and agreed on the approved sample.

  1. 1. First pieceThe first piece of a run is compared with your approved sample for shape, color and size before the batch continues.
  2. 2. At the benchShape is checked against a gauge or template as pieces come off the pipe or out of the mold.
  3. 3. After annealingGlass cools slowly in the annealing oven. We check pieces for stress and cracks before finishing.
  4. 4. Final inspectionEvery piece is inspected under light for bubbles, stones, scratches, chips and color difference. Size and opening are measured on a sample from the batch against your drawing.
  5. 5. Before packingWe send photos or a short video of the finished batch. You may also send your own inspector or a third-party inspection company.

Hand-blown glass has small natural variation. Semi hand-blown shades, formed in molds, repeat more closely. See how ordering works.
